Bronwyn Lewis started pole vaulting in seventh grade, and she fell in love with it almost immediately. She first saw the event at a high school track meet — watching vaulters clear the bar and land in a heap of mats — and knew right away it was what she wanted to do. That instinct turned out to be right.

Her progression since has been steady and relentless. A 9’6” personal record as a freshman became 10’11” as a sophomore, then 12’6” as a junior — each year a new ceiling, each year a new title. She won her first Kansas 2A State Championship as a sophomore, clearing 10’6”, then went out and did it again as a junior, this time breaking the Kansas 2A state pole vault record by 13 inches along the way. She also picked up a state title in high jump that same season, clearing 5’3”.

What stands out about her junior year isn’t just the record — it’s the consistency. Bronwyn won every single pole vault meet she entered, 10 for 10, while breaking her own school record five times and the league record once. She took that form onto the national stage as well, competing at Nike Outdoor Nationals against some of the best vaulters in the country. A 3.5 GPA student who plans to study dentistry, she carries the same discipline in the classroom that she brings to the runway.
