Kamari Jennings grew up in the gym. His father has coached basketball for more than 23 years, and some of Kamari’s earliest memories are of sitting through practices and breaking down film at his dad’s side — shooting on the side baskets until he was finally old enough to join the drills. That love for the game took root early, and once his dad started training him directly, his development took off.

His AAU career began with Team Griffin in Oklahoma before he finished with the Wichita Padres — stops that put him against high-level talent and shaped the player he is today. Then came the decision that changed everything: before his sophomore year, Kamari transferred to Wichita Collegiate. Surrounded by teammates who shared his passion and work ethic, he was pushed to elevate his own game. Two years later, that group went 27–1 and won a Class 3A State Championship.

The numbers back up the leadership: 16 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.1 steals a game as a junior, on 54% shooting from the field and 37% from three. A career-high 33 points. A spot in Collegiate’s top-10 single-season scoring list. But Kamari plays pass-first — a floor general who guards 94 feet, moves well without the ball, and makes winning plays on both ends. Another driving force has been his sister, a Division I softball player whose discipline and sacrifice showed him exactly what it takes to compete at the highest level. Her example is the standard he holds himself to every day.
